Hamm diagnosed with lymphoma

The Georgia lineman is the second member of the Tigers' Class of 2016 to face cancer treatments before graduating from high school.

Brodarious Hamm, a guard who signed with Auburn in February, has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma and will be forced to put his football career on hold indefinitely.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said on Tuesday. "He's a fine young man with a fine family. He's got a great attitude."

Hamm is the second member of the Tigers' Class of 2016 to be diagnosed with cancer. Defensive tackle Tashawn Manning began treatment for leukemia in November.

Auburn affirmed its commitment to Manning by reserving a scholarship for him for future use. The program has made the same offer to Hamm. Both players face their cancer fights with a tangible beacon of hope -- left tackle Shon Coleman is headed to the NFL this spring after missing the 2010 and 2011 seasons because of leukemia.

"We're going to be there for him," Malzahn said of Hamm. "He's going to get through this. We expect him to be with us after a short period of time after he gets healthy."

Hamm recently finished his high school career at Spalding High in Griffin, Ga. He committed to Tennessee last spring before flipping to Auburn in June, but never re-considered other schools after accepting the Tigers' scholarship offer.

Hamm, a three-star prospect, stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 315 pounds.
