AUBURN | Oxford four-star recruit K.J. Britt plans to make a commitment on Aug. 8, but that date is tentative.

Britt, who is ranked the No. 7 inside linebacker, wants to be certain of his decision before announcing it.

“I have to ask God, talk it over with my parents and feel comfortable with it,” Britt said.

Right now, he’s not.

“I still don’t have a leader," Britt said.

Britt has visited several schools during the summer, including the two most mentioned in his recruitment – Auburn and Georgia. He was back on the Plains for the Tigers’ War Damn BBQ, and Britt’s parents and younger brother were with him.

“I had a good time, a lot of chill time with the players and coaches,” Britt said. “I enjoy it here. I always have a good time when I come down here.”

Britt and family arrived in Auburn on Saturday and stayed until Sunday afternoon. It was Britt’s second overnight visit to Auburn this offseason, and another opportunity to build his relationships with the coaches, most importantly linebackers coach Travis Williams.

The coach and recruit spent part of the day Sunday hanging out and playing video games.

“T-Will is a great dude,” Britt said. “He’s fun and enthusiastic and a great guy to be around.”

Britt is considering being around Williams a lot more next summer. Although the linebacker doesn’t list a favorite or even a top group of schools, Auburn continues to be an option he’s heavily considering.

“I fit in good here,” Britt said. “My family likes it. Everything here is nice.”

Britt could take other visits before the end of the summer, but none are planned at this time.

“I’m taking it day by day,” he said.

Rivals ranks Britt, who stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 220 pounds, the No. 122 overall player in the 2017 class.
